All the Directioners must finally be excited about Zayn Malik’s first single since he left 1D.
The first listen to the song already indicated quite clearly why he might have wanted to leave 1D. It’s quite different from One Direction’s typical kind of music which is very typically pop and not really explicit.
Even the music video is more mature and the song itself seems more for older audiences. To be honest, it’s a little scary but only because a lot of it is so unexpected.
The song seems to be about a confusing and potentially unhealthy relationship that annoys Zayn’s neighbours because there always seems to be some kind of screaming going on.
For a song that’s three and a half minutes, the lyrics don’t really seem to say much apart from what I mentioned above. Lots of talk about bodies.
Sadly there isn’t all that much to say about the song. It really just feels like a preview, the song may have been 2 minutes long. The beat is pretty repetitive which makes the song a little bit boring, I’m guessing to match the lyrics. If Zayn wants his music to be as popular as 1D’s he’s going to have to work a little bit harder.
Shame it came out now rather than when 50 Shades of Grey came out, it seems quite appropriate for that.
2 out of 5 stars.
