Wow...that pretty much explains the experience of doing this year's RAG event for Pure FM. Pure FM went for a continuous 36 hour broadcast (which I tried to stay awake for, but only made it to about hour 22, which I felt annoyed about, but was just too damn tired! Haha).

It was one of the most mental times of my life. I went around collecting money, Ferrying the Big Brother housemates from the studio to the house and even took one of them out for a small trip that was filmed (which was interesting to say the least! Haha). I also helped out in Pure FM itself. I presented my own show, guested on quite a few others such as You Say Will Pays, Slack Sessions & Rock Steady Eddy as well as participating in the Big Brother Breakfast/Debate show and also covering for Batemania.

Arguably, the most fun I had was when I was in the studio, it's one of my favourite places to be, because I just love being on radio! Haha! Personally, the best time had, I feel, that the group of us who stayed there for the most time (including the lock in from midnight til 7am!) was during the fantastic Slack Sessions, hosted by our very own Mr. Jason Slack! He had an 'Open Door' policy when it came to doing the show, whereby the studio door was open to the main office space in the media dept. and everybody there danced and acted like fools along with getting themselves on the radio. We had a live video stream from inside the studio which caught a part of what was going on, so people listening and watching could get a glimpse of the utter hyperactivity of us all!

In my last blog post, I mentioned that I’d signed up to run the 2010 Sport Relief Mile (3 miles to be exact), and today was the day!

I’m not going to lie on this blog and say that I enjoyed running back when I was at school. I used to hate waking up and realising that I had to drag my P.E kit with me down to the bus stop.  It was another bag of boots and kit, which let’s be honest, just didnt interest me. I used to enjoy the football, and sports, but X-Country was never my thing.

Yes, after months of planning and preparation, the big move from our current "Tower" into a shared complex with the rest of UPSU Media has officially begun!

We met at 6pm in the Waterhole bar, where Laurence, our station manager, led a quick briefing on the activities that were to come over the next couple of days. I'll try and explain the existing set up, but if you got any questions, then just ask away ;)

Pure FM currently broadcasts from one main studio, which is where our DJs present their shows from. There is however, a desk and soundboard (with mics etc) in our office, which functions as a second studio in the event of an emergency.

It's been another busy few weeks at the station. This is our last week in our current studio/office, which is actually proving quite emotional.  I remember first arriving at the station and getting trained on the  14th November 2007 (yes, it's sad that I remember the date, but there you go!), and then doing that nerve wracking first show a week and a half later!

Now thinking back to it, we've all spent a lot of time in the "tower", be it in the studio, or in the office (working/socialising) or even just chilling by the stairs whilst all the "important people" were in the office.

Many people have described it as the end of an era, and I guess that's a fair way of describing it.

I still remember when Portsmouth made it to the FA Cup final in 2008! It was against Cardiff on Saturday 17th May, and the Union were showing the game on the big screen! The build up to the game during the week had been epic to say the least! Papers carried the big match previews, websites only had 1 topic for the headline, and who were we to argue with it?

This of course was back in the day when Chris Yeoh and myself presented the Saturday afternoon sports show on Pure FM. The Saturday Play, which ran throughout the second semester was on between 3pm and 5pm every Saturday, and given the importance of the game, we didn't just want to be left in the studio!

So here we go! 2010 has landed and tonight is the first Rock Steady Eddy of the new decade!

On the show tonight, we'll be chatting to London based Journalist Neal Collins about his latest book "A Game Apart", which is his take on the 2010 Football World Cup which takes place in South Africa this summer. Neal, who is currently in South Africa following the England cricket team in their test series, has kindly agreed to talk live on Pure FM so be sure to tune in for that!

And if you can't listen for whatever reason, we'll be putting the interview up as a Podcast soon!

Im writing this live to you from my room after just getting in from a night out...

No it wasnt at Purple Wednesday but in fact hosting the late night Express FM slot with fellow broadcasters Emma, Jason and Anvita.

Much fun was had by all, and i think the lack of sleep help lubricate the conversation - this particularly seemed to peak when we received a phone call from a said Ed Muala. lets just say it started off discussing when he has to put the bins out to his top secret ingredient used in his hair styling!!!
