Gunwharf Quays is to once again be partnered with the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup following a successful partnership last year.
Colin Wilding, General Manager at Gunwharf Quays said: “We are delighted to welcome back the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series to Portsmouth. The event is set to bring in thousands of new visitors to Portsmouth and is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Portsmouth to a global audience. “As the only shopping centre in the UK with sailing access, our marina will once again be home to VIP, press and team boats for the duration of the event. Guests will also be able to enjoy our unique waterfront location and we are expecting our bars and restaurants to be extremely popular.”
With the partnership, people will be able to watch the America’s Cup from big screens that will situated throughout the outlet, whilst all the shops and restaurants will be offering special deals to celebrate the event.
Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series Portsmouth, Event Director, Leslie Greenhalgh commented: “We are again delighted to partner with Gunwharf Quays. A large number of our ticket holders visited Gunwharf Quays during last year’s event and their entertainment and shopping offering helped create a unique consumer experience. The reaction to our renewed event plans has been hugely positive and tickets for the Race Village are selling quickly. One of the key changes is that there will be no evening entertainment, this is where Gunwharf Quays extensive retail, food and entertainment offerings comes to the fore, and we look forward to working with together to create both pre and post event added experiences for the local and visiting fans.”
The America’s Cup will take place on from the 21st – 24th July. Last year’s event, held in July 2015, saw close to a quarter of a million people visit Portsmouth to watch the action with British heroes Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing taking the win on home waters.
